The system can net off intra-group transactions correctly every time. Getting the group to believe the number requires showing the working, every period, until they stop checking.

Consolidation exposes process problems, it does not cause them

Every company that couldn't close on time before was still late after. The consolidated report just made it visible to the group CFO, which is uncomfortable and, ultimately, the point.
